The Washtenaw Area Apartment Association

is organized to advance, assist, foster and promote the growth, development and general welfare of the rental housing and apartment industries within Washtenaw, Lenawee, Livingston and Monroe Counties.  Serving Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Howell, Brighton, Monroe, Adrian and various townships and municipalities in the area with education and networking.  All Independent Rental Owners, Large Management Companies, Communities and Suppliers to the apartment industry are welcome and will benefit from all services provided.

When it comes to searching for an off-campus apartment, student renters and quite savvy and resourceful.  Learn how students search for off-campus housing, what they are looking for in a community, how they prefer to communicate and what factors encourage resident retention. 

Diana Paz is the National Student Media Account Manager at For Rent Media Solutions.  Diana's experience and passion for research, trends, consumer behavior, education and training has established her as an expert in the student housing arena and among her peers.  She collaborates regularly with National student housing property management companies and marketing teams.  She's conducted several market studies for companies such as The Preiss Companies, Education Realty Trust and American Campus Communities.  Most recently, Diana has spent over 3 years in the East Lansing, Michigan market working directly with student operators to reach the changing needs of the student renter.

NOVA Award Nominations Due Sept. 15!!!

The NOVA Awards are a first step in recognizing the evolution of the Property Management Industry into a multi-faceted professional entity. The Awards’ goal is to recognize members who strive to become the best and go above and beyond as neighbors in their communities and providers of service to residents. The 2014 winners will be recognized at the Holiday Awards Event on December 4th at Aubree’s in Depot Town. All members in good standing are eligible to enter. Locally we offer you 10 of the GLAStar categories. Once you fill out the entry form you only need to save to submit to both competitions. You may enter as many categories as you like; each entry must have a separate entry form, supporting materials and a $35 entry fee.

How to enter:

  1. To download the form(s) for the categories you will enter, click on the categories list found below.
  2. Complete the fill-in Word® form. Save and name your file. (Example: Leasing Person of the Year-Suzie Slagel-entry form).
  3. Gather the required attachments as listed on the entry. Please note that different categories have different required attachments. Ensure that all information, data, materials and photographs for the entry occurred anytime from July 1, 2013 through August 31, 2014.
  4. Name all required attachments with name of the category, nominee name and attachment type. (Example: Leasing Person of the Year-Suzie Slagel-recommendation letter).
  5. Entries are to be emailed to: NovaAwards@gmail.com and must be received by the deadline to be eligible. Each entry is limited to five emails including required attachments, listed in the entry questionnaire. The subject line of the email is to include the Nominee Category and Nominee Name and the number of emails. (Ex: Best Overall Star Community – Happy Valley Apartments – email 1 of 4). Please note that each email is limited in total size to 24MB. If any of your emails are over the size limit, they will not be received by the committee and will not be judged.
  6. You will be invoiced by WA3 for each entry.
  7. All information on the entry may be verified.
  8. Make your reservations for the Holiday Awards Event on December 4, 2014
